ye olde sketchdump

Some pages from a somewhat recent sketchbook that I managed to forget existed. I should probably fill that thing up, sometime. The pigs are for a potential website design, and the rest are just me noodling with colored pencils.

wip sketches and more paintchat

Just a random selection of current sketches and doodles. Cartoon animals, sulky teens and half of a guy that vaguely reminds me of Flint Paper.
Alien heads, inspired by my becoming nostalgic for Star Control 2.

There's more to this one that I'll post when it's finished.
Hey, it's a calculated effort to cram as much weird stuff as possible into a tiny space! I'll probably have to rearrange some of the clutter so I can fit their pet mudpuppy in there.
And now some more paintchat doodles.
Lin, from Perdido Street Station.
Annnd a surly dragon to cap it off.

2008 sketchbook stuff (part four)

Creepy colored pencil doodles, a couple of sketchcrawl pages (which you might take as an indication that there is an astonishing number of cartoon animals crawling around Union Station) doodles of people from a Starbucks, and the adventures of Jimmy Olsen (as a ghost). And uh I guess there's a chimp saying he's going to eat Jane Goodall's baby.

2008 sketchbook stuff (part three)

Zoo sketches. My special man friend and I took a trip to the Brookfield Zoo sometime in August or September, but we hadn't anticipated the heat. Or the throngs of incredibly bad-mannered children! Oh well.

2008 sketchbook stuff (part two)

More MST3K doodles, my dog as a hobo, and a couple of pages of sketches from a trip to Brookfield Zoo.

I have not posted in you for so long, blog!

I can't bring myself to figure out how to do any sort of naturalistic coloring with colored pencils, but slapping colors together into some kind of crazy hodgepodge works pretty well, it would seem!

Also featured: thumbnails for animation, some complete and some never started.

moleskine scans, part 6

Whale time extends into this post! As well as an extremely disturbed Toad :(

I brought my third grade sketchbook to my special man friend's house one weekend and we started drawing the sixth graders out of it. Lordy, children are ugly at that age.
Man, kids at my school took awful photos. The girl on the bottom right of the left page was ACTUALLY walleyed.

moleskine scans, part 5

Fun fact: 90 percent of my childhood was comprised of dumb ghost hunts (speculating whether or not the old lady across the street had DIED and was now a wandering spirit) and injuring myself.
I want to use the el as a setting for something... SOMEDAY. Also: a couple of people from starbucks, a creepy thing, and the beginnings of a binturong!
The Crown Fountain in Millenium Park is the best place to draw children and awkward teenagers, ever.
I think this one is kind of self explanatory.
WHAAAAALES aaand some other stuff.

moleskine scans part 4

Some concept stuff I did for work.
Zany plantlife!
This page marks another series of my failed attempts to draw a friend's cat. It moved, so it had to become a cyborg.
Drawings from a sketchcrawl in... I wanna say June? Maybe? Anyway, here's a picture of Patrick and Akira from said sketchcrawl!
The lady in the left-hand picture wasn't actually wearing a goofy war-helmet, I'm sad to say. And there was no steam powered robot, either :(

moleskine Scans, part 3

For clarification, (since at least half the people who've seen this drawing can't read my handwriting) the dog is saying "Why can't my butt be nice?"
