OLD PEOPLE (actually, just one)

People are really hard to draw!  I mean, except for old people.  I don't know why that is.

ink and watercolor

Just a little painting (about 5"x3") of a character from an animation-in-progress (well, currently on hiatus, I guess)
Long-faced Woody Allen and a distressed cat head.
This is actually something I drew about a month ago and was sitting on - I originally wanted to paint it in full color, but decided last night it would look great in black and white.

THE FINAL SACRIFICE: A Drawing Adventure

A while back I watched an episode of MST3K featuring "The Final Sacrifice." It's a movie about cultists lead by a Satoris, man who bears a striking resemblance to Morrissey; Zap Rowsdower, a dumpy alcoholic with a DARK PAST (spoiler alert: he was still dumpy then too); Troy, a scrawny kid with gigantic eyebrows and a dead father. And a bunch of fighting in the wilderness of Canada!

I don't know what compelled me to do this, but I decided to start drawing the main characters, starting with Troy:
This looks nothing like him, but I like this look a lot.
Oh my lord look at those eyebrows.
This is probably closest to how he actually looks.
Next up: Zap Rowsdower! NOT DUMPY ENOUGH
This picture is probably too flattering as well.
Aaand the villain, Satoris. I don't know what's going on with his hair.

That's all for now- I want to develop these a bit and draw the one or two other characters with speaking parts.

adventures in watercolors

First one I doodled up last night - all of these were drawn and painted on handmade cotton paper. The paint was a little reluctant to move from place to place, but I think I managed alright. (though next time I'll be sure to use the press-dried paper instead of the wobbly loft-dried stuff)

Sinister siamese narwhals!
Again, with the cyclopses. (Cyclopse? Cycleeps?)
Narwhals know where you live, bub.
Professor Snape would like you to know about potions, apparently!
Harry Potter, comb your hair!
Dumbledore is sad that his beard got cut off by the scanner!

character development

Working on some character design stuff for BJ's workshop - rocket pack platypus! First, a variety of body types:Rough action planning.
Some of my earlier sketches
This page is notable for a cameo appearance by characters from my senior animation class student film! Sally, as drawn by Graham, questions her existence! Bucky disapproves of everything!

I'm going to be honest: I really only uploaded this one for the image in the lower middle.
And here are some unrelated sketches!

work doodle dumping grounds

Oh no! Where's Batman when you need him?

All shall tremble before the mighty unicorn!
Cue the theme music from "Brazil"...
I was trying to get the boy's face on-model, and he ends up like this. Go figure!
I'm sure it's a coincidence that they're all angry.
Spacemen, baby birds and pompadours. Yep, sounds about right to me.

photoshop and doodle junk

I watched a pretty terrifying (and depressing! hohoho!) speculative docu-drama about nuclear war the other night, so I painted a dog person gazing at the skies in fear! (Whenever I tell my friends "I can TOO draw cute things!" my subconscious is like "no, no you can't. Stop LYING")

jeez maybe if I didn't doodle so much I'd get more work done.
D: oh just what in the hell basically
That guy with four eyes? He's judging you. Judging you so hard!

The pteradactyl is positively appalled at this post!
